Students make a splash at Trust swimming gala
Students from across our Trust secondary schools took part in a Swimming Gala at Ashbourne Leisure Centre.
This was the third Pupil Olympics event following football tournaments for primary and secondary schools.
Everyone had a great time, thank you to our Pupil Olympics Lead Dominic Harrison for organising the event and to the school staff who supported the children taking part. Our primary schools have been invited to the next Pupil Olympics event, another swimming gala at the same venue on Monday, May 16th. Well done everyone!
Saint John Houghton to hold Festival for Peace
Saint John Houghton Catholic Voluntary Academy, in Ilkeston, is holding a Festival for Peace to raise money for families in Ukraine.
The event will take place at Saint John Houghton, in Abbot Road, on April 7th.
Oli Brown, from Saint John Houghton, said: “At Saint John Houghton we are deeply saddened regarding the current situation in Ukraine, we have decided to raise money for the families of Ukraine who are suffering at this sad time.
“This is through Saint John Houghton’s Festival for Peace. The event takes place on 7th April and begins with an afternoon for KS3 where awareness will be raised and lots of activities will take place to show solidarity with the people of Ukraine. In the evening, the Festival begins. This will be a night of Music and Performing Arts led by our children and should be a real poignant evening where we are all able to come together and do our bit. There will be crafts on sale, a huge raffle and tombola and a special guest performer also for our half time intermission.”
