The Ambassadors for Hope initiative, launched in December, embodies the core principles of Catholic social teaching, empowering pupils to be proactive agents of change.

The name for this initiative was inspired by the Trust’s Mission statement, “Growing in faith, ‘serving with love, transforming our world; together with Christ,” and resonates with the Bishop’s themes of Encounter, Discipleship, and Missionary Discipleship.

At the heart of this mission is the unique identity of Catholic schools, which uphold the dignity of every person, especially the most vulnerable in society.

Catholic schools, rooted in faith, are committed to ensuring that those who are marginalised are at the forefront of their actions and decisions.

Our pupils are integral to this initiative, having created their own constitution and meeting agendas, which include both in-person and online events.

Secondary school pupils actively participate in shaping these agendas, ensuring that their voices are heard and that the topics discussed reflect their concerns and understanding.

This collaborative process allows pupils to link their actions to Catholic Social Teaching, focusing on the principles of justice, solidarity, and the common good.

The pupils have been diligently preparing PowerPoint presentations to showcase their school’s Catholic Life and Mission activities, which they presented to the Bishop in March. In this meeting, they shared the strengths of their schools and demonstrated how they live out their faith.

Looking ahead, the next focus will be on Pope Francis’ vision to support the most vulnerable members of society, with pupils planning actions for the summer term that will specifically target different areas of need.

Through these initiatives, pupils are empowered not only to make a difference within their school community but also to communicate their messages of hope and compassion to the wider world.
